Samoens is located in the heart of the Grand Massif ski area, one of the largest ski areas in the world. Including Samoens, Morillon and Flaine, the Grand Massif has over 265km of piste, and many more off-piste opportunities. With an elevation of 2,500m, the ski area has great snow all throughout the winter months and well into spring. Over the last few years the area has been developed considerably included new lifts constructed and a plethora of up-mountain restaurants and scenic runs down into Samoens and Morillon.
Samoens itself is a historic city, being the site of many renowned stonemasons. Due to this there are a large number of both man-made and natural cave system which are open to the public to explore, an incredibly intriguing and enjoyable day out. Samoens' architecture is second to none and the town has won a multitude of awards for its beauty, including being named a 'ville fleurie' an honour that France gives to only its most beautiful of towns and cities.
